MINDING PUBLIC HEALTH WORLDWIDE – (WHO)

The World Health Organization was formed in 1948 at Geneva in Switzerland. WHO was created with the intention of synchronizing public health of the world. The main focus of this agency is to combat the spread of infectious diseases through prevention and proper treatment. Agendas for awareness, prevention, and treatment for diseases such as AIDS and SARS and other similar type of diseases are supported by WHO. It is an umbrella for leading the world on health matters. It gives support for research in health and also helps in spreading newly-acquired health information. WHO keeps track of health conditions world over and emergence of any new illnesses or diseases. That apart, the organisation provides general health standards to be maintained round the globe.
